The project for the construction of a waste sorting complex near Angarsk received positive conclusions from the State Environmental Expertise of the Russian Federation and the Main State Expertise of Russia.
The complex will be the largest beyond the Urals and will include a waste sorting line and a plant for composting organic waste. The project is being implemented under a concession agreement using a capital grant from the Irkutsk Region and planned preferential lending from VEB.RF. Preferential lending and the provision of a capital grant help reduce the tariff burden on the population.
The Government of the Irkutsk Region and the company RT-NEO Otkhodov Recycling act as the concession grantor and concessionaire.
– Completion of the examinations of the waste sorting complex project near Angarsk is an important step towards improving the environmental situation in our region. This complex will significantly reduce the volume of waste disposal and will also create new jobs. The design capacity of the waste sorting line will be 405 thousand tons of MSW per year, and the organic waste composting plant will dispose of 141 thousand tons of MSW per year, noted Svetlana Trofimova, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Irkutsk Region.
The next stage includes the selection of a contractor for the construction of the facility and the preparation of permits for construction work.
